Our Middle School Business Collaborative gives adolescents purposeful, real-world work that deepens learning and strengthens our community. In keeping with Montessori principles, students take ownership where they plan budgets, communicate clearly, and solve problems together. They practice independence, collaboration, and leadership; build financial literacy and customer-service skills; and learn to reflect, revise, and try again. Most of all, they see how their academic work matters because it’s tied to real people and real outcomes.
At ASM, this shows up in student-led initiatives such as the Coffee House, the Halloween Fair, and our weekly pizza business. Students form teams to handle marketing, advertising, ordering, and logistics; they set goals, track revenue and expenses, keep records, and talk about what worked and what they’ll improve next time. These efforts bring people together, model service to our community, and help sustain future student-led projects and events.
