ASM is pleased to offer summer programs for students, ages 2.9 years through grade 8. Our programming offers a balance of structure, exploration, and fun, allowing students to continue building independence, confidence, and social connections while enjoying the relaxed rhythm of summer. To provide continuity and a sense of security, the daily schedule closely mirrors the academic year routine, helping children feel confident and comfortable as they move through their day. This consistency supports smooth transitions, reinforces independence, and allows children to remain deeply engaged in their learning—while still embracing the fun and flexibility of summer.

Preschool (2.9 years) – rising first graders (For currently enrolled ASM students only)

Each week features engaging, age-appropriate themes that inspire curiosity and creativity through hands-on activities, outdoor play, art, music, and storytelling. Guided by experienced teachers, students will explore new themes each week, strengthen social-emotional skills, engage in purposeful play, and enjoy time outdoors. Each session will be staffed with a lead teacher and an assistant. Students must be 2.9 years old and toilet trained before they start the program.

Kindergarten – grade 8 (as of fall 2026)

Students can immerse themselves in art, culinary, language, STEM, theater, or wellness-related courses. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in hands-on projects while developing new skillsets. A highly qualified professional instructor teaches each class. We’re excited to share that our K–8 program has expanded to include new offerings like Mandarin, Scratch and 3D Printing, Shark Tank: Young Entrepreneurs, Storywriters Studio, Virtual Rocketry with Kerbal, and Wizard Science Academy!

Payment

A student’s space is confirmed once payment is received. Payments should be made via check payable to ASM and can be mailed or dropped of at the front desk.

A student’s space will be released if payment is not received within 2 weeks of registration.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made on or before May 15, 2026 will receive a full refund. Families may also transfer enrollment to another ASM program at no additional cost, pending availability. After May 15, 2026, no refunds, fee reductions, or prorated adjustments will be issued, including for late arrivals, early departures, or partial attendance.

Behavior Policy

At Andover School of Montessori, we hold the tenets of respect, kindness and integrity in the highest regard, expecting all members of our community to embody these values consistently. These principles are the foundation of a safe and nurturing atmosphere, essential for fostering a supportive environment where every individual is given space to feel safe and thrive. Similarly, we uphold these standards within our camp programs, ensuring that all participants contribute to and benefit from a community where mutual respect and considerate interactions are valued. By prioritizing these behavioral expectations, we create a harmonious setting conducive to learning, growth and overall well-being of our camp members.

Removal from program decisions are made at the discretion of the instructor and the Head of School. If a student is not able to participate in a safe and productive way, or if the instructor feels that the student is not engaging at a level appropriate for the program, the instructor may ask that s/he not return to the program. Refunds will not be provided for students removed from the program due to behavioral issues.

FAQs

How do I now which program my child is eligible for?
Identify the grade your child will be entering in the fall of 2026 and select the corresponding program. Preschool students must be 2.9 years old and toilet trained before they can join a session.

Where will the programs be held?
All students should arrive through the main entrance. They will be directed to the appropriate classroom. Children’s House students must be accompanied to their classroom. Students registered for the K-8 program can be dropped off at the main entrance.

Do I need to bring lunch and snacks for my child?
Yes, students should bring two snacks, a water bottle, and a lunch that does not require refrigeration. All food must be peanut/tree nut free.

What if my child naps?
Children’s House students who nap should bring a complete set of clothes (labeled an in a bag) and a blanket/pillow to keep at school. All children who begin the summer program under the age of four will go to the nap room for a rest time. If children fall asleep, we allow them to do so until about 2:30 p.m. If they do not fall asleep, they will be invited back to the classroom after a short rest of about 30 minutes.

What if I need to pick my child up before the class is over?
Please inform the front desk at drop-off if you need to pick up your child early. Students must be signed out by an adult who is listed on the authorized pick up form. If your plans change, please call the front desk at 978-475-2299.

Do you have a nurse on staff?
We do not have a nurse on campus during the summer. Administrators are certified in CPR and First Aid and EPI-Pen training. Prescription medication cannot be administered by the teachers or administrators.

What about sunscreen?
Parents should apply sunscreen at home each morning. It is recommended that students bring a hat for added protection.

Yoga, Mindfulness, and Peace (For currently enrolled ASM students only)

Through experiments, nature-based crafts, and environmental projects—such as building birdhouses—students develop curiosity, focus, and a deeper understanding of how humans interact with the environment. ASM presents an innovative summer program that seamlessly integrates technology, creativity, and robotics! Students will explore modern “making”; learning how to harness computer art and design programs to create stunning visuals and artwork. 

As participants immerse themselves in the world of creation, they’ll dive into the exciting realm of robotics. We’ll start with the basics of building and movement, using what students have learned about design to enhance their robotic creations. As they progress, participants will tackle advanced topics like navigation, sensors, and programming the robot to make autonomous decisions. By utilizing LEGO’s intuitive building system alongside design skills, students will bring their unique ideas to life while learning how to code commands through easy drag-and-drop software.

Children will learn about the birds they might encounter in their backyard. We will observe local birds that visit our bird feeders.

While walking on our nature path behind ASM, we will observe with our ornithologist eyes to spot some feathered friends in ASM’s backyard.

Students will dive into the fascinating world of physics through a series of entertaining and educational hands-on experiments. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of key principles, including Newton’s First, Second, and Third Laws of Motion, as well as the Law of Gravity. In this dynamic class, students will design and construct exciting projects such as marble runs, catapults, and air blasters, allowing them to see physics in action.

Students will also explore aerodynamics as they create and test a variety of flying inventions, including paper airplanes, rockets, kites, and parachutes. Through these interactive activities, students will examine the forces that govern movement and flotation, all while having a blast with their fellow young scientists. Kerbal Space Program (KSP) is an amazing gaming platform that will allow students to develop space missions to explore the solar system. KSP realistically simulates the flight and behavior of a spaceship while providing an exciting and intuitive environment for learning about space exploration, from rocket design to launching to orbital mechanics.

Students begin with the basics of building a vehicle that can escape the atmosphere before raising their sights to ever higher goals – reaching the moon, building space stations, even exploring other planets! Each stage of growth in the program will be informed by actual NASA missions, but what students create is limited only by their imagination and the constraints of physics! NASA engineers think KSP is a fantastic way to learn about the science of space exploration and we think students will too!

  • Identify essential rocket components (fuel tanks, engines, staging, control systems) to build a stable spacecraft capable of achieving specific mission goals.

ASM’s summer theater program offers students an enriching experience in the magical world of theater combined with practical life skills. With a strong focus on costume design and sewing, children will develop fine motor skills and concentration abilities. Expert instructors will guide them in bringing their creative visions to life by designing and constructing their own unique costumes.

In addition to costume design, students will explore acting, improving their confidence, language skills, and self-expression through collaborative rehearsals and line memorization. Through prop design, they will further enhance their problem-solving abilities and unleash their imagination. By crafting props and utilizing innovative solutions, children will transform ordinary objects into exciting elements of storytelling.

Once Upon a Summer is an immersive, literacy-focused program for students in grades K–2 that integrates reading, oral language development, creative expression, and social learning. Each day, students engage with a thoughtfully selected children’s book and participate in experiences designed to deepen comprehension, strengthen expressive language, and encourage imaginative thinking. Through interactive read-alouds, guided discussion, dramatic interpretation, and hands-on creative work, students explore story structure, characters, and central themes in meaningful and age-appropriate ways. Our Advanced LEGO Robotics class will take students from the basics of designing and building a robot all the way to learning advanced navigation techniques through the addition of sensory inputs and decision-making code structures. This class provides a great foundation in the fundamentals of robotics, while setting students up to join a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team next Fall if they want a bigger challenge later on.

Experiencing Science

Through a variety of hands-on experiments, students will learn first-hand whether something sinks or floats, is magnetic or non-magnetic, and whether oil or water is denser. They will discover what happens when acids and bases interact with cabbage juice or each other.

All week, the children will be exploring shelf work independently and daily activities as a group to learn the basics of science experimentation: observe, question, hypothesize, test, and draw conclusions.

In true Montessori fashion, this week is all about learning through the senses! By engaging in hands-on activities, the children will build and refine their sense of sight, touch, sound, and smell. They will be well-prepared to take on work in the sensorial area of the classroom in the fall. We will even engage the sense of taste with popsicles at the end of the week!
